THE CONDOR OF QUILOTOA HIKE

This hike takes you around the rim of the Quilotoa crater and is absolutely unreal – with every step you take, you’ll see how the water below you inside the crater changes color. Along the trail, the lagoon will always be to one side, the other side shows the stunning Andes Mountains with steeps, rivers and valleys. On a clear day you can catch great views of the Cotopaxi and Illinizas volcanoes.
The trail offers great exercise with one higher point which demands physical effort due to the perpendicularity of the path, it takes approximately 45 minutes to reach the top from where the trail develops in less marked declines. Book this trip on a Saturday and a visit to the indigenous market in Zumbahua is included.

  • This hake takes between 5 to 6 hours and previous hiking experience is highly recommended. It is at high altitude so be prepared for unpredictable weather and strong winds.
  • Ask you accommodation for hiking instructions and possible transport costs.
