SIGCHOS MARKET HIKE
Pre-arranged morning transport will take you to the capital town of our canton named Sigchos, also called the “Hanging Garden of the Andes”. On a clear day you’ll see the majestic white peaks of Illinizas from town. The small town of Sigchos is best visited on a Sunday when the normally quiet town converts into a busy local market. You’ll find everything from hats, clothing, pots and pans to vegetable markets where you’ll see over 10 different types of potatoes! There is also a section with local cheese and meat. From Sigchos town it is a stunning 4 hour hike back to the lodge through the beautiful green Toachi canyon passing by local highland villages.
- This hike can be organized from Isinlivi or from Chugchilan.
- Ask your accommodation for hiking instructions and transportation.
